Pacers topple Pelicans behind Pascal Siakam in Indiana | Pelicans

INDIANAPOLIS – The New Orleans Pelicans’ road woes continued Sunday.

The Pelicans lost their 13th straight road game, this time in a 119-104 setback to the Indiana Pacers.

The Pelicans’ only road win this season came in the second game of the season against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Pelicans (5-21) have also lost a total of 13 of their last 14 games.

Brandon Boston came off the bench to score 20 points to lead five Pelicans players in double figures.

“His confidence continues to grow as the season goes on,” Pelicans coach Willie Green said. “He understands his role. He started a few games. At the moment he is in the second unit. He gets solid minutes every single game and is very confident in what he can do once he hits the floor.”

Dejounte Murray and Herbert Jones each scored 19 points, while Murray had seven rebounds and seven assists. But Murray also committed eight turnovers, tying the career high he set on Thursday in a loss to the Sacramento Kings.

This was the third meeting of the season between the Pelicans and Pacers. The Pacers won two of the three games. The Pelicans defeated the Pacers at the Smoothie King Center but lost both games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Pascal Siakam scored 22 points and Tyrese Haliburton added 21 points and 10 assists to lead Indiana.

Andrew Nembhard had 17 points and Myles Turner finished with 14 points and four blocks as the Pacers won for the third time in four games.

New Orleans had 18 turnovers and shot 10 of 33 from 3-point range in its fourth straight loss.

Indiana turned the game around with its defense in the second quarter. New Orleans scored just 14 points in those 12 minutes and trailed 59-42 at halftime. The Pacers built their lead to as many as 23 points in the third quarter and pulled away into the fourth quarter.

“I just didn’t feel how important it was for us in the first half,” Green said. “Stupid mistakes, a bit careless. I thought we got better in the second half. We were strong in the second half. But we managed to have a sense of urgency to start the game.”

The Pelicans will receive a three-day break before traveling to play the Houston Rockets on Thursday.
