Another week, another win in a loss for Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

For the second game in a row, Young’s Panthers failed to secure a triumphant victory thanks to a painful walk-off field goal. After a loss to the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12, it was the reigning NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers who got their kick in the final seconds at Bank of America Stadium in Week 13.

However, Young delivered another sensational performance in the 26:23 defeat. The sophomore passed for a season-high 298 yards, surpassing last week’s 263 yards, with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown.

Head coach Dave Canales, who continues to support the 23-year-old, praised the courageous performance.

“I thought he played great,” Canales replied. “I thought he made some critical throws in critical situations. He got us out of some bad ones and threw the ball away a few times. It was an aggressive day. They (Buccaneers) blitzed a lot, he handled it well again and gave it. “We definitely have a chance to win in the last few drives.”

Young was later asked about his piece.

“I’m just going to get more familiar with the system,” he replied. “The coach is doing a great job calling really good things and installing good things throughout the week. I trust him, I trust the system and I just stick with it. And just the players around him. O-line, everyone up.” Front does a great job. It’s not just me.

Since returning to the starting lineup in Week 8, Young has completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 1,082 yards (216.4 per game), six touchdowns and three interceptions.
