First quarter

The Colts won the coin toss and retired, leaving Drake Maye and the Patriots’ offense in first place in a frigid Foxboro. After a short pass to Kendrick Bourne to start, New England quickly got moving as Rhamondre Stevenson completed his first carry 32 yards up the middle. Facing a 3rd-and-goal after a completion to Hunter Henry on 3rd-and-7 and a shovel pass to the tight end after a fake to Marcus Jones inside the 10, Maye was sacked for a field To force goal. Joey Slye was good from 35 yards. (Patriots 3-0 Colts)

The Colts’ offense marched methodically down the field on their first drive of the game, needing just five plays – highlighted by a 23-yard completion to Drew Ogletree – to get into the red zone. After three consecutive runs to get within the 10, a coverage breakdown led to Jonathan Taylor opening a seven-yard touchdown. (Patriots 3: 7 Colts)

Drake Maye got New England’s second drive started when he used his legs to break man coverage in a 41-yard scramble. Two consecutive 11-yard completions to his tight ends gave New England the lead, where Stevenson took a direct snap for the score – which was called back due to a holding flag by Mike Onwenu. Another holding call – this one against Layden Robinson – put them further behind and forced another field goal attempt. (Patriots 6:7 Colts)
