Paul Bamba, championship boxer managed by Ne-Yo, has died at the age of 35

Boxer Paul Bamba died this week, just days after winning a WBA cruiserweight title, his manager Ne-Yo said Friday.

He was 35.

The cause of death was not revealed.

The boxer won the WBA cruiserweight gold title on December 21 by forcing former super middleweight title contender Rogelio Medina Luna to surrender on his chair after six rounds.

Bamba recently signed a deal with Ne-Yo’s management company, becoming one of the first to align with the Grammy-winning singer.

Ne-Yo released a joint statement with Bamba’s family following the death.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, friend and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives,” the statement said.

“He was a passionate but confident competitor with a relentless ambition to achieve greatness. But above all, he was a great human being who inspired many with his extraordinary drive and determination.

“We are heartbroken by his death and kindly ask for privacy and understanding during this difficult time as we deal with our grief together.”

Bamba, who was number 12 according to the WBA, notably took part in 14 professional fights in the 2024 calendar year.

He had a successful professional career that lasted almost four years and ended with a record of 19-3.

After his last win, Bamba had told Jake Paul, “Come and get it.”

Paul expressed his condolences on Friday, writing “RIP Paul Bamba” on X.
