Pete Carroll is interested in the Bears’ coaching job as they attempt a comeback

Former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll’s wish list has been leaked, and his top item is the head coaching job in the Windy City.

The 73-year-old Super Bowl champion is ready to return to the sidelines, ESPN reports, and he has his sights set on the vacant Bears job.

The Seahawks left their longtime head coach after last season, moving him to an advisory role and hiring Mike Macdonald as his replacement.

The owner’s decision was made calmly, if not slightly grudgingly, and Carroll has been itching to get back into the game ever since.

“I’m not exhausted. I’m not tired. “I’m not that kind of person,” Carroll said in the offseason.

During a subsequent media appearance on a Seattle radio show, he added: “I have a lot of energy, thought and willingness to do this, but I can’t imagine there being a place, the right place.”

Now that Matt Eberflus is in Chicago, the right guy is within reach.

The Bears finally showed their third-year head coach the door after a November loss that was completely incomprehensible even by Bears standards.

However, in first-class Bears fashion, Eberflus was only apologized after he had taken responsibility for his poor clock management.

In Chicago, Carroll teamed up with a former Trojan colleague, quarterback Caleb Williams.

The head coach led USC to national championships in 2003 and 2004 before beginning his 14-year career with the Seahawks.

For his part, Williams was still in diapers while Carroll and the Trojans picked up all the brass.

Nearly two decades later, he arrived in Southern California as a sophomore and promptly earned both All-American and Heisman honors.

During his junior campaign, Williams worked with former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was in an offensive consulting role with the Trojans at the time.

Kingsbury, now offensive coordinator with the Washington Commanders, is also reportedly interested in the Bears’ head coaching job.

In addition to the Bears, the Jets and Saints are also looking for a new head coach. And while Carroll may be interested in these other opportunities as well, he hasn’t spoken to any teams yet, as ESPN reports.

Additionally, more jobs are likely to become available after the season ends.

Given the clear success he had at USC and then in Seattle – leading the Seahawks to 10 playoff appearances, two conference championships and the franchise’s only Super Bowl win – Carroll is likely on the wish list of some of this unfortunate NFL as well -Teams.
