PGA Tour star addresses rumors that he is considering a move to LIV Golf

Tony Finau to LIV Golf? Not so fast.

The six-time PGA Tour winner refuted rumors and speculation that he would be the latest major star to head out on the Saudi Arabia-backed international tour this week.

There were rumors after Finau withdrew from the Hero World Challenge this week, but the 35-year-old clarified that a knee injury was the reason for withdrawing from Tiger Woods’ event in the Bahamas.

Finau, who finished the season ranked No. 26 in the world and is one of the best players on the tour without a major championship, added that rumors that he was negotiating with LIV were unfounded.

“They are not true. “I’m more than happy with where I’m at on the PGA Tour and I’m looking forward to 2025,” Finau told Golfweek. “If I hit it on Maui, everything will go away, so I’m not worried about that at all.”

Finau has not yet registered for the Sentry at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, which opens the 2025 PGA Tour season in January. But his statement seems to indicate he will follow suit at some point during the tour’s traditional opening event, the West Coast Swing.

He is currently scheduled to compete in the Grant Thornton Invitational, an LPGA team event, from December 9th to 15th where he will compete with superstar Nelly Korda.

Finau has long been at the center of LIV rumors, especially after his close friend Jon Rahm shockingly joined the competition.

LIV Golf boasts an impressive roster of players such as Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson and others.
