Player Ratings: AC Milan 1-1 Roma

Player Ratings: AC Milan 1-1 Roma

AC Milan failed to make the most of their rivals’ point losses as the game against Roma ended 1-1. Several players struggled to achieve the desired effect. Below you will find the reviews of the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out how we decide on player ratings. From the scale to the impact on the rating, we have put everything together there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6): He couldn’t do anything about the goal as it was a lovely finish from Dybala and he made a few other good stops. He was also good with his feet, so definitely a pass for the Frenchman today.

Emerson Royal (5.5): He almost gave away a goal with a very poor pass at the start of the game and made a few questionable decisions in the build-up as the game progressed. He was always available in attack, but didn’t have much success with his performance.

Gabbia (6): It’s difficult to judge as Dovbyk caused problems for both the Italian and Thiaw, but ultimately the goal came in a moment of brilliance. It was the same when Dovbyk hit the post, so it was difficult to defend. The academy product did get a tactical yellow card, but that was smarter than anything else.

Thiaw (6): Just like his colleague, it was a solid game overall and, especially at times when Milan were playing well as a team, the German was often able to win the ball back. The goal once again required more from the others than from the central defenders.

Hernandez (5.5): It was much better when he went forward, and by that I mean when he carried the ball from his own half or higher up. Although he created chances, the finishing touch was unfortunately missing, from poor decisions to questionable shots. However, given the lack of preparedness we have seen before, this was somewhat of a step in the right direction.

Fofana (6.5): After a fantastic run forward, he scored an assist and exchanged the ball with Morata before feeding to Reijnders. The pass could have been better as it bounced a lot, but the run that started the whole thing deserves high praise. In addition, he made many interceptions throughout the game.

Terracchiano (5.5): While some may point the finger at Hernandez, it seemed more like a mistake from the midfielder (full-back?) as Dybala entered the box after a run. The former Verona player should have picked him up earlier and he didn’t play well overall either.

Chukwueze (6): It was really a mixed bag from him, with some very good moves and some very bad moves. It was still better than previous games, although everything was overshadowed by an injury that didn’t seem so minor. It remains to be seen how long he will be out for, and with the January window looming, it’s certainly not ideal.

Reijnders (6.5 – MOTM): It was a great goal to open the scoring, especially because the ball bounced up, and it showed once again how important it is. On the other hand, just a minute later, he had a poor pass on a counterattack that perhaps should have resulted in a goal, and he faded a bit in the second half.

Jimenez (6.5): It was a lively start from the Spaniard, who particularly demonstrated his skills in a counter-attack. His rating is boosted by the goal-saving move at the end, as he bothered Pellegrini just enough for the shot to miss, but not enough for a penalty to be called.

Morata (5.5): He was involved in the goal with a run to the left, but even if the serve wasn’t always the best, he could have done much better.

Substitute

Bennacer (5.5): He gave the ball away just minutes after coming on and it could have been very costly as Roma wasted a great chance. There were some improvements after that, but unfortunately nothing spectacular.

Abraham (6): Milan struggled to get the ball to them but when they did, at least on a couple of counter-attacks, they did really well and perhaps deserved more for their efforts.

Camarda (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating.
