Pleasant weather on Friday, the risk of SEVERE WEATHER again on Saturday

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Pleasant weather returns to the ArkLaTex on Friday, followed by another chance for severe thunderstorms on Saturday.

Expect fog to develop in some areas Friday morning, with temperatures in the 50s at sunrise. It will be a pleasant day with partly to mostly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the 60s and low 70s.

A few showers may return Friday night into Saturday morning, but this early activity is not expected to be severe on Saturday. Another strong area of low pressure will move into the ArkLaTex by midday Saturday, triggering a line of thunderstorms that will develop rapidly by early afternoon. These storms can initially tap into the right ingredients for large hail or a damaging gust of wind. The threat of tornadoes currently appears to be relatively low. Still, there is a high chance of a severe weather outbreak to our east late Saturday into Saturday night across northeastern Louisiana and Mississippi.

Any threat of severe weather should be over by the time the Independence Bowl begins Saturday night in Shreveport. Kick-off temperatures will be in the low 60s, with temperatures dropping into the 50s during the game.

We will have sunny, dry, warm weather on Sunday and Monday with highs in the 70s. There will be cooler air for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with highs falling into the 50s and lows in the 60s for much of next week.
