Predicted line-up for Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Carabao Cup

Manchester United’s journey to their first trophy under Ruben Amorim continues against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

After securing a crucial win against rivals Manchester City at the weekend, Manchester United must quickly turn their attention to a meeting with Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Red Devils punched their ticket to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with wins over Barnsley and Leicester City, but Tottenham pose a much bigger challenge.

Manchester United will be without the injured Luke Shaw and Mason Mount in their domestic cup game. Marcus Rashford is also left out of the squad for the second time in a row after hinting at a possible departure from the club. Alejandro Garnacho, the other player who missed the Manchester derby, did travel with the team but it remains to be seen whether Amorim will give him the nod in such an important game.

This is what Manchester United’s team could look like on December 19th against Spurs.

GK: Andre Onana—The goalkeeper has only kept one clean sheet in his last seven appearances.

CB: Leny Yoro—The 19-year-old could make his second start since returning from a long-term foot injury.

CB: Harry Maguire—The England international will play his 220th game for the Red Devils.

CB: Lisandro Martinez– The Argentine assisted United’s winning goal against City at the weekend.

RWB: Diogo Dalot– Dalot will be looking to recover from a rather forgetful night at the Etihad.

CM: Casemiro– Expect the ex-Real Madrid man to get the nod so Amorim can give Manuel Ugarte a rest.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo—Mainoo’s defensive efforts were sorely lost when the teenager was sidelined with a muscle injury.

LWB: Tyrell Malacia—Amorim relied on Malacia for midweek games. The Dutchman continues to find his form and improve his match fitness after returning from his knee injury.

AM: Amad Diallo“It is difficult to imagine Amorim choosing any other option before Diallo. The 22-year-old scored the winner against City and has been one of United’s best players in recent games.

AM: Bruno Fernandes—Fernandes has three assists and two goals in his last five appearances. The captain will look to exploit Spurs’ weakened defense.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund—Although Joshua Zirkzee could see some minutes, Højlund is the striker who is having the most success under his new coach.
