Game notes

  • Well, it’s a quick turnaround for the Boston Bruins tonight as they’re back home for a back-to-back game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
  • Last night? The Bruins will want to forget it quickly after losing 6-2 in the two’s second meeting of the season. In the game, Columbus scored three power play goals and saw two goal nights from Monahan and Dmitri Voronkov. Pavel Zacha scored the Bruins’ first goal, tying the game, but then the Blue Jackets scored five goals in a row. Charlie Coyle had seven shots on goal last night and scored one goal. Marchenko and Voronkov each scored three points in their team’s win, while Werenski collected four assists.
  • “Bad line changes. They exploited us there,” That’s what interim head coach Joe Sacco said yesterday after the loss. The Bruins will look to improve their second-period play and game management, which led Columbus to capitalize.
  • The Bruins have yet to beat the Blue Jackets this season. They are 0-2-0 against Columbus heading into the final series game of the season. The first loss was the 1-5 decision that led to the dismissal of Jim Montgomery.
  • Brad Marchand enters tonight’s game on an 11-game point streak. He received an assist on Coyle’s goal – which also gave Coyle a three-game goal streak.
  • After leaving Monday’s game, David Pastrnak recorded a TOI of 18:11 on six shots in yesterday’s loss.
  • Werenski now has seven assists in his last two games for Columbus. Voronkov has a six-game point streak with five goals and five assists. Marchenko has a seven-game point streak with four goals and nine assists.
  • Until tonight!
