“Quite a rollercoaster of temperatures” next week

According to the National Weather Service’s forecast for next week, Boston will see a change in temperature and a number of rainy days next week.

“Quite a rollercoaster of temperatures with a big warming mid-week followed by much colder air at the end of the week,” NWS Boston posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

Forecasts show the Boston area will start the week with highs in the mid 40s and higher lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s on Monday and Tuesday.

Forecasts say the region will see a sharp rise in temperatures, reaching up to 62 degrees, by Wednesday.

The NWS forecasts that temperatures will fall quickly at the end of the week, with highs remaining in the low 30s and low 40s through Sunday. Lows will fall into the icier range in the 20s.

“It looks pretty wet this week, especially Tuesday night into Wednesday night,” NWS wrote Sunday.

Precipitation is expected to remain “mostly rain,” NWS Boston said, avoiding last week’s brief snow patches. NWS forecasters warned of a “low risk of icing along and north of Route 2 and toward the Berkshires Monday night into Tuesday.”
