Rain in the Weekend Weather Forecast for South Louisiana | Weather

It’s going to be a drizzly weekend in southeast Louisiana, perfect for curling up on the couch and spending the holidays with the family.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, storms are expected to approach Baton Rouge and Lafayette from the west Thursday evening, potentially producing a few strong thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail and an isolated tornado. The heaviest rain is expected to fall west of Interstate 55, forecasters said.

The line of storms was expected to reach the New Orleans area by daybreak on Friday.

After that, forecasters can expect regular showers and thunderstorms through Sunday, with a few potentially severe storms expected again on Saturday night.

NWS forecasters said they did not expect all-day washouts.

Thursday: There is a chance of light showers between 4 and 5 p.m., with more showers to follow overnight. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 70 degrees and a low around 63 degrees. Widespread fog after 4am

Friday: The chance of showers and thunderstorms is 60%. Widespread fog before 11am. Otherwise partly sunny and warm, with highs around 76 and lows around 63.

Saturday: Showers are possible before midday, showers are likely after that and thunderstorms are possible after midday. Mostly cloudy, with highs around 70 degrees and overnight lows around 59 degrees.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high around 69 and a low around 53.

Baton Rouge

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high around 71 degrees and overnight lows around 67 degrees. There is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 p.m. Patchy fog after 5am

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms are possible before 11 a.m. and are likely after 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. There will be patchy fog in the morning and at night. A high of around 76 with a low of around 63.

Saturday: The chance of showers and thunderstorms is 70%. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 75 degrees and overnight lows in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high around 70° and an overnight low around 40°.
