Raised funds for art installations at Des Moines International Airport

The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation says it has raised $4 million for art projects inside and outside the new Des Moines International Airport terminal.

Work began last year on the $445 million terminal, which is expected to open in 2026. The $4 million will fund what the arts foundation said in a press release: “The selection and installation of five large-scale, site-specific art installations throughout the terminal,” which will create “an inspiring and welcoming environment for travelers.”

“Art has the ability to transform a space and add an experience to an otherwise blank wall,” Kevin Foley, executive director of Des Moines International Airport, said in the release. “We are confident that the Public Art Foundation has selected pieces that will enhance our passengers’ experience while expressing pride in our community and our region’s vibrant culture.”
