Ranking the top 25 men’s college basketball recruiting classes of 2025

From the moment Kevin Young was hired as BYU’s men’s basketball coach in the spring, it was clear that the Cougars would have the resources to compete at the sport’s highest level.

“It became clear very quickly that there weren’t going to be a lot of things holding us back here,” Young said in April. “When you try to run your own program, it’s a huge deal. I didn’t hear ‘no’ very often.”

It didn’t take long for those words to bear fruit.

AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 prospect in high school basketball, committed to BYU on Tuesday, choosing the Cougars over Alabama, North Carolina and Kansas. Young made Dybantsa a priority soon after taking over and didn’t relent as bluebloods and new recruits came into play.

With Dybantsa — the program’s first five-star recruit since the ESPN recruiting database began in 2007 — at the helm, BYU now boasts a top-10 recruiting class in the country.

Note: Class rankings are determined by a mathematical formula that weights various factors related to the quality and quantity of players in the class.
