Recap: Ducks rally for shootout win on first visit to Utah

Robby Fabbri scored two goals and Mason McTavish scored the game-winning shootout win, leading the Ducks to a 5-4 comeback victory over the Utah Hockey Club at the Delta Center today.

The win, Anaheim’s third in the last four games, moved the club to a 13-15-4 season record with one game left to play before the holiday break.

Fabbri led Anaheim offensively with two goals, his third and fourth of the season, including a third-period tally that made it a one-goal game with seven minutes to play.

Bret Leason completed the comeback with a shot under the crossbar and scored the equalizer with just under five minutes left.

Isac Lundestrom also scored as the Ducks lost for the first time this season when they scored at least three goals. Olen Zellweger and Cutter Gauthier each contributed two assists. Lukas Dostal secured his eighth win of the season with 21 saves.

Utah captain Clayton Keller took over the home team’s attack and recorded his fourth career four-point game with two goals and two assists. Barrett Hayton and Logan Cooley also scored. Goalkeeper Jaxsen Stauber made 25 saves.

Both teams struck before the game was even five minutes old, as Anaheim answered a rebound goal from Keller on the other end with a well-executed rush chance from Fabbri. After a Utah turnover and in the midst of a defensive line switch, Fabbri jumped on the loose puck at center ice, raced forward on a 2-on-1 with LaCombe and beat Stauber on the short side.
