Recounts produce close local race results in Ohio | Ohio

OHIO (WFFT) – Every vote counts in Ohio.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced that 23 local races in the November general election were automatically recounted.

The recounts produced close results: three issues had tied votes, three races had three votes, and three races had one vote.

LaRose said the results of the nine races show how important it is for eligible voters to participate in the elections.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that one vote doesn’t matter. That’s why we continue to ensure that it is both easy to vote and hard to cheat in the Buckeye State,” LaRose said in a statement. “While the focus is often on the top voting list, local elections can have a big impact on communities across Ohio.”

Although the issues and races were different, LaRose expressed that each voice represents the voice of a community as a whole.

“As we do our part to protect the vote, we are also protecting your vote to ensure the result accurately reflects the will of the community,” LaRose said in a statement.

The state is already preparing for more candidate races and full ballots for the 2025 election cycle.

“Local elections held in odd-numbered years like 2025 can be notoriously close, so it is more important than ever to ensure you are registered to vote and ready to participate in our democracy in the new year,” LaRose said in a statement.
