RFK Jr.’s lawyer urged FDA to withdraw polio vaccine: report

The lawyer who helped Robert F. Kenney Jr. select top health officials as part of Trump’s transition to the White House has reportedly asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to revoke approval of polio vaccines .

In November, President-elect Donald Trump named RFK Jr. as his secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. HHS is responsible for the “safety” and “health” of all Americans.

Attorney Aaron Siri works closely with the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN), an anti-vaccination group that has long waged war on vaccines, and filed the petition on behalf of ICAN in 2022, according to the New York Times.

Siri was also involved in filing a petition to “suspend the distribution of 13 other vaccines,” including those covering tetanus, diphtheria and hepatitis A, the Times added.

For decades, the polio vaccine has protected millions of people from lifelong paralysis or death and helped eradicate the disease from the country. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that the best way to prevent this is through vaccination.

In previous interviews, Kennedy has insisted he has no plans to revoke access to vaccines despite claiming they are linked to autism.

Katie Miller, a spokeswoman for Kennedy, said he had not discussed his petitions with any of the health candidates, adding that he “has long said he wants transparency on vaccines and wants people to have freedom of choice.”
