Richard Jefferson angrily attacked Draymond Green, arguing, “Dray, that’s a foul.”

At Christmas this year, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green gave ESPN NBA analyst Richard Jefferson a laugh.

Early in the fourth quarter of the Christmas Eve game between the Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, Green was whistled for a foul. The foul in question occurred as Golden State’s Jonathan Kuminga shot a free throw and Green was fighting for possible rebounding position with his Los Angeles teammates Rui Hachimura and Dalton Knecht – who were lined up to Green’s left and right, respectively. When Kuminga’s free throw went in, Green, Hachumura and Knecht all fell to the ground, and Green quickly received a foul. As Green is wont to do, he protested quickly and loudly. So was he right?

Not so much.

Jefferson began to explain what happened, as analysts do.

“Okay, first of all, they’re not allowed to lock arms – and they didn’t,” Jefferson said of Hachimura and Knecht.

Then he saw what happened. Green raised both arms and was tied up with the two Lakers. He then dragged both the Los Angeles players and himself to the ground.

This made Jefferson laugh.

“And then Draymond pulls them both down,” Jefferson said, laughing. “Dray, that’s a foul.”

“They are now allowed to lock guns – and they didn’t lock. And then (laughing) Draymond pulls them both to the ground. Dray, that’s a foul.”

After laughing for a few more seconds, Jefferson further explained the rule.

“The two offensive players are not allowed to cross their arms… but you are not allowed to grab both arms and do a full suplex.”

“I don’t know,” play-by-play man Mike Breen replied. “That seemed to me to be as much about the Lakers as it was about Draymond Green. I’m a bit on his side there. NO?”

While Green’s argument greatly entertained Jefferson, he was unwilling to consider Breen’s ideas.

“No,” replied a seemingly laughing Jefferson.

“I completely disagree, Mike,” Doris Burke added.
