Riley Moss missed Jerry Jeudy’s record night

Instant analysis after the Broncos’ 41-32 win over the Browns:

1. Come back soon, Riley Moss: Seriously, man. As quickly as possible. No one ever said the Browns didn’t have viable weapons. Or that they didn’t have many of them. But to see a Broncos secondary so badly wounded by Jameis Winston and Jerry Jeudy? Yikes. Here’s how crazy things got for Denver in the second half without Moss, its CB2 and safety Brandon Jones: With 2:54 left in a two-point game, Jeudy, the Broncos’ former first-round draft pick, Not only did he set a career high in receiving yards for a game, but he also set the Broncos record for most receiving yards by an opposing player (219). And No. 3 enjoyed every minute of it, too, after saying last week that he wanted to “whip” the Broncos’ asses in his first game in Denver after being traded to the Browns last offseason. With Moss sidelined with a knee injury, he found himself targeted early and often by Winston. With 2:03 left in the first quarter, Moss’ understudy, Levi Wallace, lost track of the Browns’ Elijah Moore down the left field line, which turned into a 44-yard gain that gave the visitors a first-and-goal in Denver gave it 8. Cleveland scored on the very next play, a sign of a wild night to come.

2. Boomer Earlier Night: As scary as Monday night was at times, imagine how much scarier that day would have been for the Broncos without their Boomer Sooner duo of former Oklahoma stars Nik Bonitto and Marvin Mims Jr. In fact, Bonitto and Mims had done so through three quarters, accounting for nearly half as many yards receiving and returning – Bonitto ran a pick-6 back for 71 in the second quarter, while Mims caught a 93-yard laser for a score, z Total 164 – as Denver had total offensive yards (340). Bonitto, who later recorded a sack, is now the sixth player in NFL history to record at least 10 sacks in the same season in which he also had a pick-6 of 70 yards or more.

3. Uniform Blues: Unlike the setbacks of 1977 (and we will join any petition to make this the primary home uniform again, just let us know where to sign), the social media reaction to the Broncos’ white helmets was on Top of an all-“Midnight Navy” ensemble was extremely polarizing on Monday night. Lots of love or hate and…not much middle ground. From the second deck at Empower, it looked a lot like Auburn vs. Syracuse in the Mile High Bowl presented by Denver Mattress Factory, and with all the orange in the stands, you’d think it was a “Cuse home game.”
