Runnin’ Rebels are excited to play at home

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (5-5) prepare for their first home game in more than 28 days against the UC Riverside Highlanders (8-4).

This will be the Runnin’ Rebels’ third game in seven days. The Runnin’ Rebels are looking to bounce back from a narrow 66-65 loss to the No. 22 Dayton Flyers.

The team’s leading scorer, Dedan Thomas, Jr., averages 16.6 points per game. On the team, forward Jeremiah Cherry is a force, averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and 1.7 blocks per game. The Runnin’ Rebels also have five players averaging double-digit points.

In the narrow loss to the Flyers, Dedan Thomas Jr. missed a game-winning buzzer-beater and led the team with 16 points. Jaden Henley also scored 15 points and Julian Rishwain scored 12 points.

The UCR Highlanders are led by Barrington Hargress, who averages 19.4 points per game. Joel Armotrading leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

The Runnin’ Rebels will need to be consistent in the paint and on the floor if they want to defeat the Highlanders. The Rebels have a tendency to fade at the end of games, which has cost them this season.

The Runnin’ Rebels will face the Highlanders on Saturday, December 21stst at noon at the Thomas & Mack Center as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Rebels kicking off at 2:30 p.m
