Shortly after Barry Keoghan deactivated his Instagram account, the Saltburn actor, who was rumored to have cheated on his girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter, took to social media to explain his decision and ask for respect.

“I can only take so much. My name has been thrown around the internet in a way that I don’t normally respond to,” he wrote on

“I deactivated my account because I can no longer allow this stuff to distract me from my family and work. No one should ever have to read the messages I received. Absolute lies, hate, disgusting comments about my looks, my character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.

“I am destroying my character and everything I have worked extremely hard for and stand for,” he continued. “I talk about how I was a hero baby and how I grew up and also brought my lovely mother into it. Knocked on my grandma’s door. Sat outside my little boy’s house and intimidated her. That crosses a line.”

“Every day I work harder to develop myself on every level to be the healthiest, strongest person for this boy,” he concluded. “I want to give him opportunities to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his father, to have complete trust in me and to know that I will have his back no matter what. I want you to remember this.” He needs to read EVERYTHING about his father when he’s older. Please be respectful to everyone.

A representative for Keoghan did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

On Thursday, Carpenter surprised fans at the premiere of her Netflix holiday special as cheating rumors began circulating about her relationship with Keoghan.

The “Taste” singer appeared in good spirits while promoting “A Nonsense Christmas,” despite rumors circulating online that her relationship with Keoghan had failed due to the Oscar-nominated actor’s infidelity.

Influencer Breckie Hill, who has 4.3 million followers on TikTok, fueled the infidelity rumors republish a video on the platform.

The video included a post from gossip account DeuxMoi, which said: “On the final night of her biggest tour yet in LA, he was busy getting cozy at the San Vincente Bungalows with a blonde, semi-famous LA influencer who is particularly big on TikTok.” ).

An insider confirmed that the two are taking a break after romance rumors first surfaced in December 2023.

“They are both young and career-focused, so they decided to take a break,” the source told People magazine.
