Saints vs. Rams result: Updates from NFL game in New Orleans | Saints

The New Orleans Saints host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 3 p.m. The home team is looking to extend its winning streak to three games under interim coach Darren Rizzi. You can follow the score and live updates here.

The Rams beat the Saints 30-22 in Inglewood, Calif., last year in an NFL game in which New Orleans scored several late touchdowns.

The Saints (4-7) have beaten the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns since Rizzi replaced Dennis Allen as the team’s head coach.

The Rams enter the game at 5-6 in a crowded situation in the NFC West. Los Angeles is 2-3 on the road this season.

UPDATED, 2:48 p.m.: The Chargers beat the Falcons 17-13, meaning Atlanta leads this division by just 6-6. The Saints could move to 5-7 with a win today, but keep in mind they would lose every tiebreaker against the Falcons, so even with a win New Orleans would essentially be two games behind.

However, two games down with five games remaining is better than even the most optimistic Saints fans could have hoped for three weeks ago, so they would certainly do it with a win today.

The Bucs can also secure first place with a win at Carolina, although they also lose the tiebreaker to the Falcons.

We’re here at the Dome about 15 minutes before kickoff.

UPDATED, 1:36 p.m.: Greetings from the Superdome, where we are about 90 minutes before the New Orleans Saints game against the Los Angeles Rams.

That’s a big problem for the Saints, who today are just one win away from seriously getting back into the playoff conversation. A third straight win under interim coach Darren Rizzi would also signal that this team has truly changed since the firing of Dennis Allen and could make for a very interesting December.

A few things from the early games: The Falcons are trailing the Chargers 9-7 early in the second half, so a close game, but potentially good news for the Saints. And the Commanders are all over the Titans, so New Orleans can’t get any closer in the wild card chase today.

Ninety minutes before game time also means inactivity, and the big decision for the Saints is whether center Erik McCoy will be active after missing practice all week with a groin injury.

The report just came in and McCoy is NOT active. That’s not a good sign for the Saints, who will turn to Shane Lemieux at center. Lucas Patrick is also inactive, as are running back Jordan Mims (Jamaal Williams is back) and receiver Mason Tipton.
