Jost retaliated with jokes he read to Che, including one about Jay-Z, who was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean “Diddy” Combs. Jay-Z has strongly denied the allegations and accused the lawyer who filed the lawsuit against him of an “attempt to blackmail.”
“Jay-Z is innocent,” Che read. “He wasn’t even at those parties, and I know that because I was there! And Diddy, if you’re listening, we’re bad boys for life.”
Che also had to read a joke about “Moana 2” being a box office hit, “because as me and my good friend Jeffrey Epstein always said: There’s nothing better than an island adventure with a teenage girl.”
During the news portion of “Weekend Update,” Jost was stunned as the audience cheered on Luigi Mangione, the man charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“Yeah, definitely woo,” he said sarcastically to the crowd. “You’re seeking justice, aren’t you?”
Tom Hanks, Emma Stone, John Mulaney and more welcome Martin Short to the “SNL” five-player club
To open the episode, “SNL” unwrapped a gift for fans: one of the most star-studded skits of all time.
Saturday’s episode began with a crowd of celebrities welcoming host Martin Short to the Five Timers Club, the group of stars who have hosted the show so many times.
Tom Hanks opened the skit by talking to the audience about how he created the “exclusive” club as a “brilliantly lazy way to avoid writing a monologue.” He was joined by Paul Rudd, who taught Short the Five Times Club’s secret handshake, and Tina Fey, who said the “Only Murders in the Building” actor was “one of the least rare things in Hollywood: a loud one.” Man.”
Alec Baldwin, a 17-time host, came in and said he played Republican on the show because of his “strong daddy vibes.” Soon Johansson arrived and slammed the door in Jost’s face; Kristen Wiig, who wore a bathrobe and joked that she definitely “doesn’t live here,” and Emma Stone and Melissa McCarthy, the latter of whom provided some physical comedy as they fell through a wall.
Then John Mulaney came along and said that the sitcom Mulaney, in which he and Short co-starred, couldn’t air now because “it wasn’t good and nobody liked it!” There was one final cameo, when Jimmy Fallon came in and announced that he would soon have to “host another game show and laugh at my own jokes.”
Dana Carvey’s Church Lady returns: David Spade plays Hunter Biden on “SNL”
Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and other stars are taking part in the final “SNL” of 2024
While they were all in the building, many of the stars who appeared in the cameo-filled theater stuck around, looking for roles in skits.
In a skit about two men fighting over a parking space on Christmas Eve, McCarthy appears as an aggressive woman who spits her drink onto a car window.
In another skit in which various people take part in a parade at an airport, Wiig played a woman who accidentally sat on a motorized suitcase, while Rudd played himself who was denied entry to a lounge area. McCarthy also appeared as a gate agent who had difficulty pronouncing people’s names, while Hanks played Sully Sullenberger, the captain who famously landed a plane on the Hudson River after a bird strike. Hanks previously played the role of Sullenberger in the film “Sully.”
Rudd also starred in a “Sábado Gigante” sketch as a confused man who is pulled out of the audience and has no idea how the Spanish-language show works. In the sketch, Dana Carvey appeared again and gave Rudd’s character a completely useless hint.
“SNL” will return in 2025 and the show’s 50th anniversary special will air on February 16.
