Pastrnak made it 3-1 with a power-play goal at 9:13 and beat Hellebuyck’s glove team with a one-timer from the left circle.

“After two thirds it’s 3-1. We’ve been in this situation before,” Sacco said. “We thought we could definitely work our way back into the game, but we didn’t and that’s why you shouldn’t put too much emphasis on it and at the end of the game when it’s 7 (or) 8-1. But there are things we need to address and correct, and we will do that.”

Connor scored the goal at 1:15 of the third period to make it 4-1. Scheifele kept the puck at the blue line, drove through the right circle and fired a pass to Connor in the slot for a one-timer.

“When (the rotation of Scheifele, Connor and Vilardi) plays like that, it usually leads to a win,” Arniel said. “They showed us great throughout the game. Dominant changes, some big goals at critical times to give us the lead, things like that. They’ve had a great year so far and it starts with Mark driving it down the middle. For us to be successful, that’s our goal and that was a great achievement.”

Vilardi made it 5-1 at 5:33, then Alex Iafallo scored on a deflection on the power play to make it 6-1 at 7:19.

“Tonight we didn’t capitalize on the momentum we built (four straight wins),” Swayman said. “We still have four games left on this road trip. We’ll take it one game at a time and I’m looking forward to it.”

Mason Appleton’s wrist shot from a tight angle below the right circle made it 7-1 at 16:16.

“Some of the goals I let in, I just know I can stop them,” Swayman said. “I hold myself to a standard and when you let that happen it’s not a great feeling, so I want to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”
