SDSU Football Turkey Truths Volume 3

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – For the past two years, I’ve highlighted some of the SDSU football team’s favorite Thanksgiving traditions in a segment called “Turkey Truths.”

Since we’ve probably all had enough to eat on Thanksgiving, I thought I’d do something different this year and ask which NFL game they should watch most on Turkey Day – Lions Game 3, Cowboys Game 3, or Pick Em?

The truth will set them free!

“This year I have to say the Lions because they play the Bears on Thanksgiving. I’m just a Chicago guy, but I usually always watch the Lions game first because I don’t know, I think that’s the classic team. “I’m just the guy from the Midwest, that’s the classic team I always watch,” says SDSU senior QB Mark Gronowski.

“I have the same answer. This year it will be the Lions because they are playing the Bears this year and I am a Bears fan. “We have a lot of Bears fans on the team, so there will be a lot of eyes on this game!” SDSU senior LB Adam Bock says.

“Yeah, usually it was the Lions Bears. So my family was from Chicago and we were all Barry Sanders fans!” says SDSU head coach Jimmy Rogers.

“I really don’t know! I’m a 49ers fan. I usually enjoy watching the Detroit game. It’s pretty good. As far as it goes, with me and Angel Johnson, you’ve got David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs back there. Something similar here. So I usually enjoy watching them play too, but I doubt the 49ers will ever get a Thanksgiving game. We’re pretty crazy right now!” Says SDSU senior RB Amar Johnson.

When asked what it would be like to play for Dan Campbell, who once said his teams were so tough that “if you knock us down, we’ll get up and bite you on the way up.” Kneecap OK? And then we’ll get up and it’ll take two more shots to knock us down. And on the way up we’ll take your other kneecap,” Gronowski compared his current head coach to the leader of the Detroit Lions.

“I feel like they’re pretty similar. Both really intense. Both highly competitive guys. Just tough guys that really get the team going and it would be really cool to play for a guy like that,” Gronowski said.

So Jimmy bites his kneecaps?!

“No, no!” says Bock.

“No, Jimmy wouldn’t do that!” Johnson says.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did!” says Gronowski.

“I think he (Campbell) did an incredible job. “I wouldn’t put myself in that comparison, but I respect the quote!” Rogers says.

Would you bite the kneecaps?

“I probably wouldn’t say that, but yeah!” Rogers says.
