Seahawks’ Geno Smith suffers leg injury against Packers and is replaced by Sam Howell | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith suffered a knee injury after attempting a low sack by the Green Bay defense. He went to the locker room and is currently listed as questionable to return.

He was replaced by 24-year-old Sam Howell.

Smith initially attempted to leave the field under his own power, but collapsed, prompting athletic training staff to help him leave the field.

Before his departure, Smith completed 15 of 19 passes for 149 yards and one interception.

With the Washington Commanders last season, Howell started all 17 games with 3,946 yards, 21 touchdowns and 21 interceptions and posted a 63.4 percent completion rate. He played one game for Seattle this season, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 34-14.

Smith had an outstanding season with the 8-5 Seahawks, ranking second in the league with 3,474 passing yards. He has thrown 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while posting a quarterback rating of 53.3.

The 34-year-old former Russell Wilson backup is now in his third season as the Seahawks’ starting quarterback, leading the franchise to a 25-20 record while earning two Pro Bowl selections along the way.
