SeaWorld and the city of San Diego settle lawsuit

SeaWorld will pay the city of San Diego $8.8 million to settle a lawsuit over rent arrears.

As part of the agreement, the San Diego theme park, located on land owned by the city, also agreed to provide free season passes to San Diego County teachers for five years, according to NBC San Diego.

And SeaWorld promises to give active military members and veterans free admission annually for five years. The City of San Diego will also receive 1,000 tickets to distribute to local school districts.

The city of San Diego sued SeaWorld, alleging it failed to pay more than $12.2 million in rent, late fees and interest. The lawsuit said the rent was underpaid between January 1, 2019 and April 30, 2022.
