The Ottawa Senators begin a nine-game road trip and close out the holiday season with a date with the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday, December 17th.

The Ottawa Senators have gained momentum with elite goaltending from No. 1 Linus Ullmark.

Ottawa allowed just 2.3 goals per game during the Heat, and Ullmark rose to the challenge with a 6-0-1 record, a .950 save percentage, a 1.55 GAA and a total of 5.24 goals saved above average.

Of course, the Sens have been solid in base numbers at 5-on-5 all season, ranking ninth in Corsi For percentage (51.7%) and 11th in expected goals percentage (51.5%). . Add in a sixth-ranked 26.5 power play percentage, and the puzzle pieces finally start to fall into place for the Sens.

As for tonight’s game, the Seattle Kraken have a lower CF% and xGF% at 5v5 and have a regular 8-7-2 home record. It reflected their solid but unspectacular collection of skaters jumping over the boards, and Seattle was saved by the play of No. 1 goaltender Joey Daccord.

Daccord has posted a high .916 SV% and 2.45 GAA, with the third-highest GSAA (25.38) dating back to the start of last season.

I expect more of the same from both teams tonight, with Ottawa having enough good scoring opportunities to beat Daccord at least one more time than Seattle can beat Ullmark.

Odds analysis Senators vs. Kraken

It doesn’t surprise me at all that this money line is moving toward Ottawa. I also expect further action on the Senators this evening and would recommend supporting them at -135.

Pinnacle’s 5.5 overall is an accurate number, and there was an early move toward the under. This is consistent with solid goaltending from Ullmark and Daccord, as well as Ottawa’s highlighted improved defensive play during its 7-2-1 climb up the standings.
