Atalanta ended its run of 11 straight wins in Serie A with a goal from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru for Lazio, but Marco Brescianini grabbed a late point for the leaders.

La Dea spent Christmas at the top of the table, unbeaten since a 3-2 win against Como on September 24th and went into the Stadio Olimpico without Mateo Retegui, Gianluca Scamacca and Matteo Ruggeri, but were also preparing for the Supercoppa Italiana against Inter on January 2nd before. The Aquile bounced back from a painful 6-0 defeat to Inter with a win in Lecce, but Tijjani Noslin, Pedro, Manuel Lazzari and Matias Vecino were injured.

See how it turned out in the live blog.

Lazio started very aggressively and had an exceptional triple chance when Marco Carnesecchi made two big saves in quick succession from Taty Castellanos and then just had to watch as Matteo Guendouzi’s curler hit the far post.

Davide Zappacosta’s volley missed the edge of the penalty area by just centimeters, but Lazio deservedly took the lead when Nicolò Rovella’s ball went over the goal line and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru reacted quicker than Marten de Roon and Sead Kolasinac and let it rebound with his right boot .

Shortly before half-time, Zappacosta’s cross grazed the head of Mario Pasalic and the foot of Berat Djimsiti at the back post and went just a few centimeters wide.

Juan Cuadrado came on for the restart and should have scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute when his header hit the side netting on the other stick from a cross from Raoul Bellanova when Atalanta had three players lined up to score .

Ademola Lookman also nodded a cross from Bellanova wide of the goal and Ivan Provedel managed to fingertip a shot from Lookman around the post as Atalanta began to surge forward.

Lazio also missed the opportunity to equalize when Boulaye Dia failed to connect on the counter-attack with a low cross from Castellanos from six meters.

Lookman thought he had scored in the 75th minute when Ederson Cuadrado’s corner hit the back post, but Luca Pellegrini desperately cleared the goalline from point-blank range.

Dia managed to turn Djimsiti so that he hit Carnesecchi’s gloves, but Atalanta’s pressure finally paid off on the 88Th Minute. Nicolò Zaniolo shot the ball at the back post for Lookman, who rolled it generously across to substitute Marco Brescianini, who was able to scoop the ball home from four meters. He was not offside because he started the run behind the ball line.
