Several accidents were reported around central Iowa early Monday

Central Iowa is experiencing a slower than normal commute due to snow-covered roads and resulting accidents. Update, 10:00 a.m.: The Department of Transportation is reporting multiple multi-vehicle accidents along 35/80. An accident causes a delay in Urbandale near Northwest 100th Street in the eastbound lane. Further east along I-80, another multi-vehicle crash is reported near Northwest 86th Street, causing a delay in the westbound and eastbound lanes. First responders are also responding to a third crash further east between the Des Moines River Bridge and IA 415. Update, 8:15 a.m.: A Des Moines police spokesman says officers are currently working on 15 crash investigations and are holding 20 more. Officers who respond to accidents say they are seeing more accidents in locations where first responders are present. “If you see emergency vehicles, slow down, move over if possible and pass carefully,” DMPD tweeted. Further east along I-80, another multi-vehicle crash is reported near Northwest 86th Street, causing a delay in the westbound and eastbound lanes.
