Shahid Kapoor trolled for speaking about importance of vulnerability in men: ‘There’s Kabir Singh’

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor was brutally trolled after he was asked to comment on the importance of men being vulnerable. The actor said in a recent interview that vulnerability is attractive. He added that “aggression cannot attract people.” The conversation did not go down well on social media, with many pointing out that it was ironic that the man who portrayed the aggressive Kabir Singh was talking about vulnerability.

“Indian men in particular were taught from a young age that you have to be the provider, you have to protect the family and you have to be the man. “It’s there with men when you’re always worried that I have to protect what I love,” Shahid said in an interview with Faye D’Souza.

“Sometimes you just want to relax and say, ‘I don’t have to worry about everything all the time, I can just be vulnerable and let someone else protect me.’ Why can’t we swap roles sometimes? You can feel that way, and it’s justified because, after all, we are human. We feel all kinds of emotions. A lot of men find it difficult to express their vulnerable side and I think because I’m an actor I’m comfortable with that. It is a part of my job,” said Shahid.

“As an actor, you also understand that vulnerability is extremely attractive. Aggression cannot attract people the way vulnerability can. It’s only human to be vulnerable, so as a man you should be okay with that,” he added.

The irony is dead,” another added. “Why has he never apologized for the harm caused to Kabir Singh? “The damage is done, there is no turning back,” said a third user. “Oh, and there’s Kabir Singh!” said a fourth user.

Shahid has long been criticized for his role in Kabir Singh.
