Detailed forecast:

Hello Central Coast! A significant flood event is expected this weekend with coastal flooding next week.

As the onshore flow returned, it created another day of cool temperatures in the valleys and pushed more cool ocean air inland.

High cloud cover will increase Saturday night into Sunday as a lot of high moisture moves into the eastern Pacific from a low pressure area.

Cloud cover will vary from mostly to partly cloudy and will likely have devastating effects on stratus and fog cover.

However, areas of dense fog are possible, particularly south of Point Conception than north.

The tail end of a weak system will bring very light rain to northwest San Luis Obispo County Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Rainfall amounts will be light, likely under 0.10 inches, and are unlikely to extend into Santa Barbara County.

Coastal and valley temperatures will warm slightly through Monday before plunging again on Tuesday with the next system.

A strong winter wave is heading for the central coast, bringing dangerously high surf and the risk of coastal flooding.

A high surf advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, followed by a high surf advisory from 1 a.m. Sunday to 12 p.m. PST Tuesday.

Wave heights are expected to increase throughout the weekend, reaching 10 to 15 feet on Saturday and increasing to 15 to 20 feet on Sunday.

By Monday afternoon, waves could reach a staggering 18 to 25 feet, particularly on west to northwest coasts. These strong waves are accompanied by very dangerous currents.
