Six people die in Newark crash in New Jersey

NEWARK, N.J. (WABC) — Six people were killed in a violent accident on Friday evening in Newark, New Jersey.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the accident occurred at the intersection of Raymond Boulevard and Blanchard Street just before 11 p.m.

According to police, the car was traveling on Raymond Boulevard toward the on-ramp to Routes 1 and 9 southbound. According to officials, the car left the roadway on the ramp, became airborne and struck a Pulaski Skyway support column before landing on the ground.

According to police, the vehicle caught fire upon landing.

Authorities are still trying to figure out what led to the crash.
