Slavko Vincic’s mistake leads to Bayer Leverkusen’s late winner against Inter Milan

UEFA referee Slavko Vincic was not up to the task in Tuesday’s Champions League game between Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNewsThe Slovenian official made several questionable decisions at the BayArena.

Leverkusen toppled Inter in heartbreaking fashion.

Nordi Mukiele scored the winning goal in the 90th minute, ending the Italian heavyweights’ almost flawless European Cup start.

In fact, Simone Inzaghi oversaw its first defeat in the reformatted league stage.

While it’s fair to admit that the Werkself outplayed the Nerazzurri, that doesn’t change Vincic’s miserable performance.

Vincic showed the Inter players two yellow cards in the first half hour.

However, he harshly slammed Hakan Calhanoglu for protesting before sanctioning Carlos Augusto for holding back Granit Xhaka.

While Inter fans would probably forgive him for those calls, his decision ultimately affected the final result.

Vincic’s decision to award Leverkusen a corner ultimately paved the way for Mukiele’s decisive goal.

But his assistant had to raise the flag because Jeremie Frimpong was obviously offside beforehand.

Instead, Xabi Alonso’s team got a corner and scored the winning goal with the last goal.
