The Christmas Eve winter storm brought enough snow to Maine to ensure that many people in the state will experience a white Christmas. According to the National Weather Service, there must be at least an inch of snow on the ground on Christmas Day for it to be considered a white Christmas. It doesn’t have to actively fall on Christmas for it to count. The accumulation may be from previous snow events, but it must be at least 1 inch total.
