Sofronio Vasquez, Utica, from the Philippines, finalist on The Voice

A Utica resident will find out tonight whether he is the champion of The Voice Season 26 or one of the four runners-up.

“It’s just overwhelming,” said Sofronio Vasquez, 32. “You there, at home… I really feel your warmth and support here. You guys are really great.”

Vasquez, who is from Mindanao in the Philippines, only moved to Utica in the middle of last year. But he said he felt part of the community from the moment he appeared on The Voice.

Sofronio Vasquez, a Utica resident from the Philippines, is a finalist on The Voice. He will appear in the Season 26 finale on December 10, 2024 and find out if he won.

“It feels like I was truly born and raised in Utica,” he said. “I never felt like I was an alien.”

The Voice finale airs tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC.

If Vasquez wins, he will get to record an album, tour, get a record deal and “be the face of The Voice 2024,” he said. “And it will be the highest compliment a participant would ever give.”
