Sonic 3’s Jim Carrey was so excited about the new role of Robotnik’s grandfather Gerald that he helped “design the prosthetics”: “No detail was too small”

Although Jim Carrey previously said he would need a “golden script” to get back into acting, he’s taking on a dual role in the upcoming Sonic 3 as Doctor Robotnik and his grandfather Gerald Robotnik – and even helps with the prosthetics to design the older Robotnik.

“I mean, not only did he come back, he came back and did twice as much work,” director Jeff Fowler tells SFX Magazine in the new issue, which features the Doctor’s Christmas special “Joy to the World” on its cover and hits Who to watch is in newsstands on December 3rd. The director even joked that he did enticed Carrey back with his unusual demand: “We printed it in 24-karat ink and delivered it to his door.”
