Sonic the Hedgehog 3 – Connected

Violent content

We’re shown how Shadow came into the government’s sights after the authorities decided his chaos energy was too dangerous to be left unchecked. They sent soldiers to the facility where he was being held to arrest him. Instead, the project’s lead scientist, Dr. Gerald Robotnik (Ivo and Maria’s grandfather) to help Shadow escape. The soldiers fired their weapons, causing an explosion that killed Maria (who we see lying lifeless on the ground).

These events fuel Shadow and Gerald’s anger and revenge. So they plan to destroy the world with a giant cannon powered by Shadow’s chaos energy.

Sonic and his friends fight Shadow throughout the film, usually causing quite a bit of destruction. (It should be noted that they try to talk to Shadow more than once.) Gerald uses drones to fire missiles at Sonic’s team while they eat at a children’s restaurant. Weapons are also fired in other scenes. Two characters use robotic appendages to fight each other. When one falls off a bridge, the other stomps on his fingers to make him fall. However, he is saved by Tails and knocks his opponent into a stream of chaos energy that burns the man.

Simulations show how force fields and lasers could kill Sonic. Ivo pushes his grandfather into such lasers, but the man is saved from a gruesome death by his laser-deflecting suit (though Ivo admits he wasn’t sure whether the suits would work or not). Sonic and Shadow fight off several missile-firing drones.

There are many dangerous moments throughout the film. Below them, Team Sonic is nearly sucked into a black hole. While stopping Gerald’s space cannon, two characters faint and begin to fall to Earth, but a friend narrowly saves them. Sonic’s friends are nearly crushed by falling debris (which he saves them from).

Shadow attacks Tom, Sonic’s foster father, mistaking him for the man who imprisoned him after Maria’s death. He shows some remorse as he realizes his mistake, but he doesn’t apologize. Tom survives, but it’s very close.

Two characters seemingly die while moving Gerald’s cannon away from Earth as the weapon explodes.

Sonic is shocked to learn that Ivo Robotnik is still alive since the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 had made him believe the evil scientist had died. Otherwise, characters are punched, elbowed, and attacked. A man has an accident on his bicycle. Shadow says that a TV character should kill two men who are fighting over her as she is not a prize to be won.

Gerald imagines himself blowing up a government building with his cannon. The cannon actually hits the moon and cuts off a good third of the satellite.

A post-credits scene shows Sonic fending off robot hedgehogs shooting at him.
