“Star Trek” and “Splash” actor dies at 70

Star Trek Actress Jill Jacobson died last weekend at the age of 70, her longtime friend and publicist Daniel Harary confirmed diversity on Sunday. She died on December 8 in Los Angeles after a battle with a “long illness.”

A native of Texas, Jacobson moved west to pursue acting after graduating from State University in Austin. It was a successful venture, with Jacobson remaining a fixture in film and television throughout her 47-year career. She came out of the gate strong and starred in the entertaining grindhouse oddity Sister Sherri. Jacobson played the eponymous health worker who is possessed by an evil spirit that makes her both indelibly murderous and in love. She had small roles in the Booze Runner action comedy Bad Georgia Rd (1977) and Ron Howard’s classic comedy Squirt (1984)

On television, Jacobson appeared as a one-time guest star in both episodes Star Trek: The Next Generation And Star Trek: Deep Space Nine; However, she was probably best known for her role in the late-night soap opera of the 80s Falcon Crest. She played Erin Jones in 22 episodes of the popular melodrama. Jacobson also starred in the short-lived TV revival The new device; and appeared in five episodes of Days of our lives.

Later in her career, Jacobson made a living primarily from single-episode arcs on popular shows like Murphy Brown; Who is the boss?; Arli$$; The Ghost Whisperer; And Lock. Jacobson’s final role was in a 2020 episode of the series Etheriaplays a bartender; However, she will play a small role in Robert McAtee’s film Cheerfulwill be published next year.

Between her acting jobs, Jacobson spent much of her time volunteering with the American Cancer Society, where she was a spokesperson.
