Steph Curry and Draymond Green are out for Warriors vs. Rockets

The Golden State Warriors will look to end their five-game losing streak tonight when they host the Houston Rockets in a preview of next week’s NBA Cup quarterfinals. If the Warriors can win, they will probably feel pretty good about this matchup as the Dubs are lacking a ton of talent for this game.

Here is the full injury report ahead of the PT game at 7:00 p.m.

warrior

Out of — Steph Curry (bilateral knee injury management)

Since missing a game last week, Curry has played twice and didn’t look particularly healthy in either game. He doesn’t move the way we’re used to seeing him and that prevents him from attacking the basket on a regular basis. Needless to say, the Warriors’ season depends on Curry playing (and playing well), so hopefully he’ll be able to get his knee back to near 100% healing.

Out of — Draymond Green (left calf tension)

The Dubs will be without their two best players, although at least they kindly told us that on Wednesday so we had time to prepare. Now we wait and hope that Green’s injury doesn’t keep him out for long.

Out of — De’Anthony Melton (left cruciate ligament surgery)

Melton was ruled out for the season some time ago, but now we have to add another injury to him after he successfully underwent surgery on his injured cruciate ligament this week.

Questionable — Andrew Wiggins (right ankle impingement)

The Dubs have a pretty tough fight in this game without Green, Curry or Melton. Losing a fourth player in the starting lineup would make the difficult task even more difficult.

Rockets

Out of — Tari Eason (concussion protocol)

Eason, the 17th overall pick in 2022, has truly developed into a premier role player as he is averaging 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game off the bench in his third season. He has played in all 22 of Houston’s games this year, but that streak will end tonight.

Out of — Cam Whitmore (in G League action)

Many Warriors fans were upset that the team passed up Whitmore in the 2023 draft. He was a lottery pick in every mock draft and was once at the top of the lottery in most people’s eyes. But injuries and attitude issues before the draft caused him to fall on draft day, and the Rockets – who were reportedly considering Whitmore with the fourth overall pick (which they used on Amen Thompson) – secured him a spot after the Dubs had decided on Brandin Podziemski. Whitmore showed plenty of flashes in his rookie season where he averaged 12.3 points per game. But he struggled mightily in his second year, playing in as many G League games as NBA games this season.

Questionable — Fred VanVleet (right knee contusion)

VanVleet’s numbers have dipped a bit this year, but he’s still having a strong season and is one of the top performers on this very good Houston team. He deals with his injury every day and it hasn’t cost him any time.

Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
