Storm Brings Cloudy Weather, Chance of Light Rain to San Diego – NBC 7 San Diego

The weather pattern in San Diego changed from dry and windy to cloudy and possibly stormy on Thursday as a system moved south from Northern California.

According to NBC 7 meteorologists, the storm system is not expected to have a major impact, but it will bring more cloud cover to the area and the possibility of light scattered showers later in the day.

Rainfall was reported in some areas, including Santee, early this evening.

Less than 0.1 inch is expected in the foothills and a trickle may occur along the coast and valleys. The chance of rain begins in the northwest and moves southeast.

The mountainous areas will experience gustier winds in the 25-45 mph range. A wind warning is in effect from 1 p.m. to midnight.

By Saturday the weather will clear but there will be some clouds and there will still be a lower chance of showers in some areas.

Relief from the drier and warmer weather will be short-lived and Santa Ana winds could potentially return by next week.

Also on the program this weekend: King Tide. The higher than average tides coincide with the gravitational pull of the full moon. Tides are expected to be about 7 feet at their peak, according to meteorologist Brooke Martell.
