Strong wind gusts expected in the foothills Monday evening – KIRO 7 News Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – The KIRO 7 weather team is issuing a bullet point warning late Monday night as strong wind gusts are forecast for some areas of western Washington.

We got off to a quiet start this morning, with just a few lingering showers and mild temperatures in the 50s. There is another area of low pressure offshore that will change this evening, but most of the day looks mostly dry and calm.

As the low pressure approaches the area, winds will shift to the east/southeasterly and increase in intensity along the coast, north and the Cascade Foothills. Winds will become stronger in the late afternoon and early evening and then remain strong into the overnight hours. Wind gusts may be 40-50 miles per hour, with the remainder of the area experiencing breezy winds.

There are no wind warnings yet, but we will keep an eye on it. Highs will be in the low 50s, with rain increasing this evening and continuing into tomorrow morning. I have decided to declare a PinPoint Alert day for tonight, with the strongest winds in the Foothill areas occurring between 6:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., highlighting the 10:00 p.m. to midnight window.

Tomorrow it will be wet, the rain will turn into showers. The wind will die down but it will still be somewhat stormy. Highs will be in the lower 50s with decreasing showers.

Another system will move in Wednesday afternoon and evening, with snow levels around 3,000 feet. By Thursday there will be about a foot more rainfall in the passes, with widespread windy weather and lots of rain.

There will be further showers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and it could become even windier and wetter on Sunday.
