“Sunday Night Football” Drafts Chiefs Fan Heidi Gardner for Pre-Game Tease

NBC Sports has called on a female Chiefs fan – no, not that Chiefs fan – to help open Sunday Night Football this week.

Saturday Night Live’s Heidi Gardner appears (after Carrie Underwood’s Waiting all day for Saturday evening) to explain why it’s so fun to support Kansas City.

Being a Chiefs fan can be “totally unpredictable.” . . or completely predictable. Incredibly spectacular. . . or just the same thing over and over again,” says Garnder.

“I’m talking about winning,” she says. “Maybe everyone else has had enough of us.” But then do something about it.”

Gardner also throws a little shade at the Chiefs’ opponent, the San Diego Chargers, and talks about strange things coach Jim Harbaugh and quarterback Justin Herbert have done.

SNF is typically the highest-rated primetime show on television, and NBC has spiced things up by bringing in big names to announce the upcoming matchup. Appearances so far this season include Celine Dion, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton.
