“Survivor” has announced a new winner

The final season of Survivor was a roller coaster ride right up to the end, except on this show the ride ends with someone winning $1 million.

With that in mind, we congratulate Rachel LaMont, who emerged victorious despite being viewed as a threat by several players throughout the season.

This is how we got here:

Coming into the final episode, finalists Teeny Chirichillo, Sue Smey, Rachel LaMont and Sam Phalen knew that getting the final immunity idol of the season was all that mattered. When Rachel beat her competitors and secured a guaranteed ticket to the final three, she quickly decided to send Sam and Teeny to the fire-making competition, with the winner getting the chance to vie for the prize money.

Rachel thought she would have a better chance of winning if Teeny faced the jury by her side and with Sue, so she taught Teeny the craft of making fire. Their efforts almost worked.

During the fire-making challenge, Teeny’s fire burned so quickly and fiercely that it almost looked like a total eruption. But against all odds, Sam made a quick comeback that amazed even the jury members. In the end he prevailed and reached the last three places.

To his credit, Sam also gave a convincing performance in front of the jury. But in the end, Rachel’s dominant performance in terms of challenges and masterful gameplay couldn’t be surpassed. She won all but one of the jury’s votes.

“I feel like I’m having an out-of-body experience,” she said after her win.

“Survivor” will return for a new season in 2025.
