NATCHEZ – A Natchez teenager did not survive when a tree fell on a home on Westwood Road during storms Saturday evening.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Tykeria Rodgers, Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said. Two other people in the house made it out safely, she added.

Natchez police and firefighters arrived on scene around 6 p.m. to clear branches and rescue trapped people. Unfortunately, Rodgers didn’t make it out.

“It’s a hard pill to swallow,” Green said of the incident. “It’s so devastating.”
