Tensions continue to arise within the Nashville Predators organization

Tensions continue to arise within the Nashville Predators organization

November 23: Ironically, a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets, who currently sit third in the NHL standings. It happens to be the last time the Nashville Predators won; in some way.

A loss to New Jersey, followed by three 3-2 overtime losses, led to a Canadian road trip in which the Predators scored just three goals total.

In the last 10 games, Nashville has won just two, beaten two of them and scored more than two goals just twice.

Offensive production has continued to decline – hence tensions.

“We will break free (eventually).” Brunette said after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Ottowa…“We have to free ourselves. We have to free ourselves, but we have to free ourselves.”

Placing all the blame on Brunette certainly doesn’t solve the problems within the team. Although his system certainly hasn’t worked as expected for players like Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos this season; under various factors.

On the bright side, the Predators have found a rhythm defensively. Nick Blankenburg and Adam Wilsby add depth to the blue line. Roman Josi has started to find his annual offensive step.

As a group, getting on offense was no easy task.

The team is by far last in terms of goals scored per game (2.18). Far worse than the Chicago Blackhawks (2.41), a team in the midst of a rebuild that fired head coach Luke Richardson last week.

Here’s how Chicago GM Kyle Davidson described the firing: “I don’t think this is a last-place team.”

It’s obvious that change could be on the horizon if the Predators decide to push forward with a push for the playoffs with the current roster.

Jonathan Marchessault commented on the Nashville Predators’ potential internal problems:

“(Translated) “Every time I wonder who I’m going to jump on the ice with… I had players warming up and started the game with other guys.”

It’s not the first time the Quebec native has alerted the group. Back in October, when the Predators started the season 0-4, Marchessault called for the team’s start to the season:

“At the moment I think we are a small, fragile group” Marchessault said after the game, per . “and we may have to think that we are a good team, but not good enough. We have to work harder than the opponent.”

An interruption on the bench during games has resulted in Nashville leading the table in minor bench penalties.

“The responsibility lies with the guy who jumps on the ice.” Brunette explained the topic…“We talked about this in detail. We have to learn the hard way.”

Luke Evangelista and Mike McCarron learned the hard way (maybe) weeks ago. During practice, the two had an on-ice altercation that appeared to lead to a fight between teammates.

McCarron would become a scratch after the intrasquad fight with Evangelista, which happened to be an injury.

The team, which sits second-to-last in the standings just behind the Chicago Blackhawks, was not considered a contender for the final spot or a playoff spot by GM Barry Despite during the offseason.

The direction the team moves in the event of a move could determine the team’s future. For now, the team’s focus remains on finding offensive stability.

Something is wrong in the state of Denmark. Maybe in Nashville too.
