Terry McAulay criticizes the referees for missing the passing penalty after Jordan Love’s goal

It didn’t take long for the Lions-Packers game to heat up on Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime. Packers quarterback Jordan love was coached by a number of Lions defensive linemen, including defensive lineman Za’Darius Smithwho hit him on the head with his hand. TNF rules analyst Terry McAulay quickly blamed the referees for the missed penalty.

Here is the video of the hit below.

“It definitely looks like it was forceful contact with the quarterback’s head and neck area. In this case you would have had to attack the passer roughly,” McAulay explained on “Thursday Night Football.”

The game between the Lions and Packers was, as expected, a fairly high-scoring affair, with the Lions leading 24-21 at the end of the third quarter. Jordan Love completed 8 of 15 passes for 137 yards and threw one touchdown with no interceptions. The Packers took control early in the fourth quarter and scored a touchdown to take a 28-24 lead with 13:54 to play.
