Texas, Arch Manning pulls off a wild trick play against Georgia in the SEC Championship

Last week, Steve Sarkisian used Arch Manning — Texas football’s most famous backup quarterback — as a weapon in the red zone.

Against Georgia in the SEC championship game on Saturday, the Texas coach used Manning as a decoy.

On a key fourth-down play in the second quarter, center Jake Majors fired the ball through Manning’s legs to running back Jaydon Blue, who carried the ball three yards to move the chains. Manning came into the game as a replacement for Quinn Ewers as part of a specialty package Texas recently installed.

The Georgia defense was fixated on Manning faking a quarterback sneak. With elite athleticism for the quarterback position, Manning was asked to run the ball every three times he entered the field last week against Texas A&M, perfectly setting up Sarkisian’s trick play.
