Sip steaming hot chocolate. Sitting by a roaring fire. Put on a thick cable-knit sweater. These are just a few of the coziest ways to settle in for the holiday season. But personally, nothing puts me in a nice hibernation and Christmas mood more than sitting down and watching a really good Christmas movie. A heartwarming story about romance, familial caring, and/or the “true meaning of Christmas” is basically my kryptonite. When I was growing up, I watched a video recording of Samantha: An American Girl’s Vacation Every year as soon as it got cold – so many times in a row that I had memorized the holiday-themed commercial for Puffs Plus Lotion. I no longer have that VCR tape or a television to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas or It’s a wonderful life. But thanks to the magic of streaming, I, like all of us, now have a huge selection of Christmas classics to choose from – so huge that it’s even overwhelming at times. To help you out, I’ve narrowed them all down to the 20 best Christmas movies you can stream right now. And unlike some mythical beings (@Santa), I didn’t even have to break into your house to give you this gift. Enjoy!

The cast alone is a feast for the eyes: we have Claire Danes and Sarah Jessica Parker as sistersRachel McAdams, who invented the concept of charm, and Diane Keaton!!! As much as I really like the calming, relatively predictable plot of your average Christmas movie, The family stone is funny, surprising and seriously heartbreaking. It’s less of a Christmas movie and more of a movie that happens to be set at Christmas.

This 2023 release is what the kids call an “instant classic.” It’s funny, it’s nostalgic without being too sentimental, and it’ll make you cry when you least expect it.

A Macaulay Culkin classic, worth seeing not only for its exuberance but also for the excellent interior design inspiration.

This sweet and silly British romantic comedy is full of clichés but features charming performances Sex Educationare Asa Butterfield (James) and the captivating Cora Kirk (Hayley). They are college students who have been together for a few months but are now breaking up to spend the holidays with their respective families – except that after parting, they both decide to spend the holidays together instead. They both change trains, show up at each other’s families and of course get snowed in. It’s a fun, satisfying watch that maintains a sense of holiday cheer throughout.

I don’t care what anyone says, movies one through three of them Harry Potter Franchises are certified Christmas films – especially this first one. Nothing is cozier!

I dare say this is the perfect Christmas romantic comedy. Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz), both dealing with the effects of holiday heartbreak, decide to change houses for the season. The houses in question are, of course, a huge, beautiful mansion in Los Angeles with a pool and a beautiful stone house in a small English village. This is a Nancy Meyers movie, so you know the cooking, the sweaters, and the romantic chemistry are absolutely insane.

The ensemble Christmas rom-com that aims to end all ensemble Christmas rom-coms (well, not really, as it inspired several failed attempts to recreate its magic) needs no introduction. It’s a classic for a reason and – dare I say it? — Hugh Grant’s last truly charming appearance.

Written by Actually love Writer and director Richard Curtis, with Brian Cox as Santa Claus, This Christmas is made for children but can make any adult cry. There are lonely and misunderstood children, an evil-nice redemption arc, an igloo-building lesson, and turkeys that manage to survive a massive snowstorm.

Personally, I love a Christmas movie that has a little magic in it. Starring Kat Graham as a photographer forced from stagnation into love by a magical Advent calendar her grandfather gives her, this film is as authentically delightful as it is cheesy. Will she end up with the hot new guy or her long-time best friend who is also hot? Make a wild guess! Or just drink your hot chocolate and watch this movie.

If you’re longing for this holiday season, watch as Carol (Cate Blanchett) and Therese (Rooney Mara) meet from the moment their eyes meet on the other side of the counter at Frankenberg’s, a 1950s department store -years, meeting, longing for each other days before Christmas. Aside from being a perfect, albeit melancholic, Christmas film, Carol is just a perfect film.

However, I personally will not comment on whether Die Hard Since it’s a Christmas movie, I can’t deny that it’s both set at Christmas and watched a lot at Christmas.

Listen, I love the Jim Carrey remake as much as the next girl, but a classic is a classic and the animated original is currently underrated. Check it out!

This holiday season, I’m grateful that Christina Milian has joined the Netflix Christmasverse. Sure, the entire film seems to revolve around promoting Pentatonix’s Christmas concert tour – even though the group doesn’t appear to be performing on Christmas Eve this year, like in the film – but I don’t care, despite the many questionable musical decisions between Milian and company star, the incredibly hot Devale Ellis, there is real chemistry.

It is a lesbian Christmas romantic comedy starring Kristen Stewart. I don’t think I have to sell it to you, but you should know that everyone else is good at it too and it strikes the perfect balance between silliness and argument.

This movie is bad, but it’s bad in such a delightful and, I like to think, self-aware way that it’s at least as fun to watch as any Christmas classic. Kudos to Vanessa Hudgens, who has always been committed to the dentures.

I don’t have to convince you to watch Eleven. You’re probably watching Eleven at the moment. If not, now you know you can!

With a stacked Cast – Gabrielle Union! Morris Chestnut! Queen Latifah! – and true Christmas spirit, The perfect vacation won’t give you an accurate picture of the music industry, but it will make you cry, and that’s what matters.
