The 2025 Big Ten schedule features a rematch between Oregon and Penn State

The 2025 Big Ten schedule features a rematch between Oregon and Penn State

Oregon will travel to Penn State on Sept. 27 next season in a rematch of this year’s conference title game, and Ohio State will travel to Washington the same weekend, the Big Ten announced Wednesday in its release of its 2025 schedule.

The league’s second schedule, with 18 members each playing nine conference games, will also feature Northwestern back-to-back home games at Wrigley Field against Michigan (Nov. 15) and Minnesota (Nov. 22). Oregon will play Sept. 13 at Northwestern’s temporary on-campus stadium.

The Ducks defeated Penn State 45-37 last weekend to win the Big Ten in their first year in the league. Oregon secured first place overall in the first 12-team playoff. Despite the loss, the sixth-seeded Nittany Lions will host 11th-seeded SMU in the first round of the playoffs on Dec. 21 at Beaver Stadium.

Both Ohio State and Indiana also made the playoffs. The 8th-seeded Buckeyes will face ninth-seeded Tennessee at home on December 21st, and 10th-seeded Indiana will face 9th-seeded Notre Dame on December 20th.

Oregon will not play Ohio State or Michigan in the regular season after playing both this year. The Buckeyes also won’t play USC. The Wolverines and Nittany Lions will miss each other for the second straight year.

The 2025 schedule does not include conference play in the first two weeks of the season. Ohio State begins at home against Texas, while Michigan travels to Oklahoma in Week 2, where the Big Ten-SEC powers meet.

The Wolverines will face rival Michigan State in Week 9 and the Buckeyes will welcome Penn State to the Horseshoe in Week 10.

Ohio State and Penn State share the same byes (Week 4 and Week 9 prior to their meeting). Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Purdue and Wisconsin all receive their first bye in Week 5.

The Boilermakers will have the longest break between byes, playing seven straight games before getting a weekend off along with the Hoosiers in Week 13. The two in-state rivals meet last weekend.

The remainder of the Big Ten rivalry weekend in Week 14 will once again feature Ohio State at Michigan, Oregon at Washington, Iowa at Nebraska and Wisconsin at Minnesota. Once again, UCLA will play at USC on the final weekend of the season. The Huskers and Hawkeyes play Friday (November 28). The Big Ten noted that games could still be moved to Fridays, either Labor Day or Black Friday.
